Framework Brings Modular GPUs to Laptops
Framework has introduced a modular GPU, the RTX 5070, for their laptops, allowing for easy upgrades and extending the lifespan of their devices. This aligns with Framework’s mission to offer repairable and customizable laptops, contrasting with the sealed-box approach of major manufacturers.
For years Framework has been building laptops around repairability and swappable parts. Now they’ve cracked the hardest one: the GPU. The new RTX 5070 graphics module slides into the Framework 16 with just a screwdriver, finally making high-performance laptop graphics an upgrade instead of a dead end.

Framework
Framework’s mission is to be the opposite of all laptops on the market. It’s a direct shot at the sealed-box approach of big manufacturers. Instead of soldered boards and forced obsolescence, Framework is selling a laptop you can actually grow with, DIY upgrades, extended lifespan, and desktop-like flexibility in a portable rig.
Would you upgrade your laptop like you do your PC?
